Duyen’s Letter to Mrs. Huong

By January 25, 2023 No Comments

Dear Mrs. Huong,

Today, I officially graduated from the transition home, soon to start living on my own and embarking on a new journey. I spent the whole day cleaning up and moving, so even though it’s a bit late in the night now, I still want to send a few words to you. I hope you don’t mind that my writing style is a bit messy and I am often a bit cheesy when putting down my thoughts. 😆

I would like to say thank you to you and all the uncles, aunts and brothers and sisters in the Transition Home project during the past time for helping me from a stranger to becoming a member of the PureVN family and a daughter of Nana’s House family.

I am grateful to you and the transition home project for helping me during my 4 years of college. Your support is not just a need for accommodation or tuition but above all, it’s love.

Nana’s House has become my second home, where Uncle Joseph and Aunt Xuan nurtured, taught and loved me like their very own child. They have guided me from little to large in life, teaching me knowledge and skills month after month. They also helped me with planning for my studies and with directing me with my future job orientation.

While living in this home, I have also gained more brothers and sisters who, although not from the same parents, always love each other. Living together sometimes comes with bit of a hiccup, moments of being happy and being sad. But going through those truly helped me to be more patient, more loving, more empathetic to those around me.

Now that I am about to step out and start soaring with my passions and ambitions, and my heart is filled with many mixed emotions. Yet I always know that there are still many challenges waiting for me to conquer ahead. Whether it is an opportunity or a challenge, I will grow up, and one day I will return to this very home and continue to build it.
